Answer all questions
- A bar 0.3m
long is 50mm square in section for 120mm of its length,25mm diameter for
80mm and of 40mm diameter for the remaining length.if a tensile force of 100KN is applied
to the bar calculate the maximum and minimum stress produced in it and the
total elongation.Take E=200 GN/m2 and assume uniform
distribution of load over the cross section.(13)
- A steel tube of 30mm external diameter and
diameter and 20mm internal diameter encloses a copper rod of 15mm diameter to which it is
rigidity joined at end. If at a
temperature 10◦c there is no longitudinal stress.calculate the stresses in
the rod and tube when the temperature is raised to 200◦c.ES=2.1×105
N/mm2
Ec
=1×105N/mm2.Coefficient of linear expansion of
steel and copper are 11×10-6per◦c and 18×10-6per◦c
respectively.
13. Draw the stress strain curve for a mild steel rod subject to tension and explain about
the sailent points on it(13)
14.A simply supported the beam of span 6 meter is carrying uniformly
distributed load of 2kn /M over a entire
span .Calculate the magnituidev of shear force and bending movement at every section 2m from
the left support .Also draw shear force and bending movement diagrams
15.Draw the
shear force and bending movement diagram for the beam loaded as shown in t5he
figure and mark the points opf contra flexure if any .
PART – C( 1×15=15
Marks)
16. A steel circular bar 3 segment as shown in the figure .Determine
i)The total elongation of the bar
ii)The
leng6th of the middle segment to have 0 elongation of the bar
iii)Thev
diametyer of the last segment to have 0 elongation of the bar Take E= 200GPa
