PART B (5x15=80 Marks)
1. A rectangular
singly reinforcement beam 300mm wide and 500mm effective depth, is used as a
simply supported over an effective span 6m. The reinforcement consists 4 bars
of 20mm diameter. If the beam carries a
load of 12kN/m (Include self-weight) Find the stress developed in concrete and
steel Take m=19
2. Design a two
way slab by working stress method for a residential floor to suit the following
data. Size of floor=4m x 6m, edge condition simply supported slab on all sides
without torsion at corners. Thickness of
supports 200mm. Live Load on floor 2kN/m2,
Floor finish 0.6kN/m2 use M20
grade concrete and Fe415 steel.
3. Derive an
expression for moment of Resistance of a Reinforced concrete cross section
(Rectangular section)
4. Determine the
ultimate moment of resistance of the doubly reinforced beam of rectangular
section width 300 mm. reinforced with 5 bars of 25mm dia at an effective depth
of 600 mm the compression steel is made up of 2 bars of 25mm dia at an
effective cover of 60mm Adopt M20 concrete and Fe415 bars. Using limit state
method.
